The magic of you

There is magic in the world.

Not in the sense that rabbits appear out of nowhere or pigeons disappear into high hats — though I find illusion-art fascinating, I wouldn’t necessarily call it magic.

I am thinking of the magic of bioluminescent algae. Or tiny seeds turning into massive trees.

I am also thinking of the magic that happens in our bodies when we breathe deeply and calmly. The ability of our bodies to feel what we need and know before we perceive it with our brains. You know, when you feel like your best friend is going to call you, and then they do. Or when you sense something is wrong before you close the door, and only later realize you forgot your keys.

These are the things we sometimes call “signs.” As if it is someone outside of us who’s trying to tell us something. But really, they are signs of only one thing: the expansive possibilities of the human mind-body-soul complex. Our ability to do and be so much more if only we slow down and just are. Being rather than doing is the key here.

Not buying it? You don’t have to. The beauty of our impossibly expansive selves is that these are not miracles you need to believe in, they are worlds to explore in an embodied manner. Your experience is yours and yours alone, your magic is for you to know and hold and be in.

And it all starts by stopping. Noticing. And taking a long deep breath.
