Chaos tolerance

Firmly grounded in the midst of turmoil: that is the aspiration. I have been reminded of this a lot lately, as we walk into a post-pandemic time where everything is changed, yet nothing is.

The deep injustices of how we have organized our community as humans have been laid bare, and we now know, we must know, that change is imperative for our survival. And yet we continue to perpetuate these injustices blithely, almost defiantly, because change is too hard. Everything feels rawer, realer, more authentically us. And yet we continue to operate as if louder and crasser is better. In the words of adrienne marie brown: “We learned to hide everything messy, weak, complex. We learned that fake shit hurts, but it’s acceptable.”

It doesn’t have to be this way. Our ability to connect to ourselves, to each other, to the planet, is infinite. For me, yoga is the bridge. And, as adrienne marie brown also says: “Each of us is precious. We, together, must break every cycle that makes us forget that.”

Yes. Forever, yes.

Next up: in-studio vinyasa class at YogaSole Tuesday April 19 6pm EDT. See you there?
